Delta 2019: Okerenkoko Youths Congratulate Okowa, Manager, Guwor, Others

2023: Okowa free to choose successor - Ijaw leader

Youths of Okerenkoko federated community in Gbaramatu kingdom, have congratulated Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on his re-election at the just concluded Delta state governorship election.

This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Ekpemupolo Ebikebina (President) and Comrade Daniel Ebimo (PRO) of Okerenkoko Development Youth Council (ODYC), which was made available to newsmen in Warri, where they expressed joy over the victories of His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Executive Governor/Governor-Elect, Delta State; His Excellency, Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor/Deputy Governor-Elect, Delta State; Sen. James Ebiowou Manager, Senator/Senator Elect, Delta South Senatorial District; Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, Member Elect, Warri Federal Constituency (Federal House of Representatives); Rt. Hon. Julius Gbabojor Pondi, Member Elect, Burutu Federal Constituency (Federal House of Representatives) and Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Member Elect, Warri South West Constituency (Delta State House of Assembly), in the just concluded 2019 General Elections.

The group ascribed the landslide victory to hard work and collective unity amongst Delta South, Warri Federal Constituency and Warri South-West Local Government, adding that their unity supersedes their ethnic differences and development can only be facilitated by peace.

The statement reads; “The leadership of Okerenkoko Development Youth Council (ODYC) heartily congratulates the winners of the just concluded 2019 General Elections. In no particular order, we extend our arm of good wishes to His Excellency, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa Executive Governor/Governor Elect, Delta State; His Excellency, Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor/Deputy Governor Elect, Delta State; Sen. James Ebiowou Manager, Senator/Senator Elect, Delta South Senatorial District; Chief Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Member Elect, Warri Federal Constituency (Federal House of Representatives); Rt. Hon. Julius Gbabojor Pondi, Member Elect, Burutu Federal Constituency (Federal House of Representatives) and Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Member Elect, Warri South West Constituency (Delta State House of Assembly).

“Your landslide victory at the polls is indisputably sequel to your hard work and enviable antecedents over the years. The results of the polls in Delta South, Warri Federal Constituency and Warri South-West Local Government Area have demonstrated the fact that our collective unity and harmony supersedes our ethnic differences and that the development of our long neglected areas can only be facilitated by peace and unity amidst our ethno-cultural diversities. 

“We want to implore you all to let go of any pre-election difference you might have had and to place the impartial and unbiased discharge of your statutory functions over and above any sentiment whatsoever. May you be reminded that the office you occupy is only held by you in trust for all electorate in your respective constituencies. 

“As a region that is wallowing in under-development, we urge you to use your respective offices to improve the poor socio-economic conditions of the people in your constituencies. The development of our region should be the primary points of your advocacy. We therefore expect policies and laws that will change the pitiable story of the riverine areas positively. We expect good roads, improved health care and welfare, improved standard of education and other palliatives that will better the lives of our people. 

“At this juncture, we find it imperative to entreat you to use your respective offices as well as your overwhelming influence to fast track the completion of the permanent site of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko. The completion of the permanent site is non-negotiable as it will not only bring about the accreditation of more departments in the institution but will provide educational and career opportunities for youths in the region as well as job opportunities for the teaming unemployed residents of the region. 

“We wish to end this message by assuring you of our readiness to partner with your respective offices whenever the need to do so arises. We wish you all an eventful and significant term in office. Once again, congratulations!
