•DSIEC must conduct credible, free, and fair election – Dekawei, President
The Delta Ijaw Youths Movement for Political Advancement, DIYMPA, has called on all Deltans irrespective of ethnic inclination to come out en-mass to vote for their desired candidates in the forthcoming local council polls billed for Saturday 6th, January 2018.
This was stated recently in a chat with GbaramatuVoice by the leaders of the group made up of Comr. John Dekawei, President; Comr. Ajosibe Justin Bebenimibo, Spokesperson and Eric Egenimiekumor, Secretary and made available to GbaramatuVoice.
According to John Dekawei, the group’s President, the forthcoming local council polls in the state has provided yet another good window of opportunity for all Deltans to elect their desired candidates. Hence, he urge all Deltans not to make a political choice on that day based on the Christmas or the New Year foodstuff received from the aspirants.
He further urged the people to consider those gifts received from the aspirants and political parties as their benefits and entitlements of which they deserved more than what they were given.
He finally encouraged all Deltans to vote for whom they feel or hold will lead in a transparent and democratic manner.
On his part, Eric Egenimiekumor, Secretary of the group advised all the Ijaw politicians, Ijaw political leaders, Ijaw chiefs, political leaders, agencies, individuals and politicians to eschew any form of bitterness and avoid involvement in any act of rigging in this forthcoming chairmanship and councillorship election.
In his words, “We are monitoring the process and we shall be on a serious watch on that day of the election and afterward. If any form of malpractice is suspected, we shall employ all legal mechanisms to prevent, and deal with such political offender.”
In the same manner, Ajosibe Justin Bebenimibo, the group’s spokesperson used the medium to call on the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to ensure a credible, free and fair electoral exercise while urging all to play the game according to the rule.
