The Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd) has asked media practitioners to concentrate on telling positive stories about the Niger Delta rather than focus on the negative aspects.
He said this at the 2021 Niger Delta Annual Media Dinner, organized by the GbaramatuVoice newspaper, on 6th January, 2022, at the Bon Hotel in Warri, Delta State.
Speaking through his Special Adviser, Media — Mr. Neotabase Egbe, he lamented the situation where media practitioners slave, and strive to tell stories with no one telling their own story and none celebrating them and, therefore, praised the GbaramatuVoice newspaper for the initiative.

He described the Niger Delta region as having the most talented and resourceful persons with entertainment and creativity embedded in the region and called on the media to focus on these positive aspects rather than the negative ones.
He also posited that the region is currently the most secure and stable place to live and do business “going by statistics,” and called for all to work on their mindset “so we can sell a Niger Delta that is livable, the best place to live and do business in Nigeria.”
The management of the GbaramatuVoice newspaper gave him an award of merit for the excellent way he has coordinated the amnesty programme since he came onboard that has seen sustainable peace in the Niger Delta region.
The event attracted media practitioners from all over the Niger Delta and had the Kogi State governor as the Guest of Honour. The deputy governor of Delta State was ably represented at the occasion, among many other dignitaries.
The brains behind the event who is the CEO/Publisher of the GbaramatuVoice newspaper, Jacob Abai, in his welcome address, acknowledged the role all the gathered practitioners had played, over the years, in the successes the Niger Delta region has achieved.
“Your deep commitment, innovative efforts, distinction, and excellence you have brought to each of your positions and your news platforms is deservedly recognized and acknowledged by GbaramatuVoice,” he explained adding that the day had been set aside to honour them.
“It is going to be an annual event,” he concluded.
