Also in his remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kogi State, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, thanked everyone at the event as well as the representative of his boss.

Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kogi State, during the Niger Delta Annual Media Dinner 2021, on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at BON Hotel Delta.

Speaking on 2023, he said: “As we head towards 2023, it is going to be a tough contest but, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter which party is winning, Nigeria must win; that’s the most important thing.

“For Nigeria to win, media practitioners have a big role to play in setting the agenda,” he advised adding that the stories he used to hear about the Niger Delta were not true, now he was in the region, as Delta State was peaceful and he saw a lot of positive developments while driving to his hotel.

He said the political party does not matter but the personality does citing Delta State as one of those states where the governor is “up to the task and has the interest of the people at heart.”

He concluded by urging the media to concentrate on telling positive stories about the region and not concentrate on conflicts alone so investors can be encouraged to go there.

The Niger Delta Annual Media Award attracted practitioners, and major publishers from the Niger Delta region. They left their different states and primary assignments to converge on Bon Hotel Delta.

Some active individuals in the industry, were also given awards along with some individuals such as the coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Col.
