NIGER DELTA: KENYANGBENE COMMUNITY ELECTIONS TO HOLD APRIL 8

Oil-rich Keyangbene community in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta has announced April, 8, 2017 for the conduct of community election.

Briefing newsmen, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr. Derick Ojogun, said, indigenes who are interested should obtain their forms from the Electoral Board starting from March 27th to April 3rd, 2017.

Mr. Derick said deadline for submission of all purchased forms is April 4th while screening of aspirants comes April 5th, 2017 respectively.

He said the community had already released funds for the exercise, assuring that the community would ensure a level-playing field for all candidates.

“We have this record of conducting free and fair election in Kenyangbene community. I remember that during the last community election, there was no complaint from any candidate; they all accepted the results out of conviction that the election was credibly conducted.” he said.

Ojogun assured the public that adequate security would be provided throughout the election period.

He appealed to candidates to desist from recruiting political thugs and making inciting comments during electioneering.
