Saturday’s Local Government election in Delta State has claimed its first victim in Gbaramatu Kingdom, as a Councillorship candidate, Blessing Boi Ebikeme, withdrew his candidacy for the exercise.
Ebikeme, who was supposed to run for the Azama Ward in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area, in an open letter to the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) offered personal reasons for his decision.
The letter titled ”LETTER OF WITHDRAWAL AS THE COUNCILLORSHIP CANDIDATE OF AZAMA WARD IN GBARAMATU KINGDOM WARRI SOUTH WEST L.G.A DELTA STATE UNDER THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC)” and addressed to the Director/Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, reads;
”I, Blessing Boi Ebikeme whom was nominated as a candidate to contest for the post of councillorship in Azama ward in Warri South West L.G.A. of Delta State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) after due consultation hereby withdraw my interest/intention in contesting for the forth coming councillorship election on the 6th of January 2018, for personal reasons.
”Therefore, am using this medium to officially inform the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission of my total withdrawal to run for the forth coming election.
”Thanks for your anticipated cooperation.”
His withdrawal however, came as a shock to some of his associates and friends.
