Comrade Peter Ofoghan, a prominent Niger Delta youth leader and widely regarded as the “Eyes of OML42,” has congratulated Sir Ken Etete, Founder of Century Group, along with strategic partners in NNPCL, Oando Group, and Continental Oil and Gas, for the successful and historic first lift of the OBODO Blend (OML150) for international export.

The OBODO Blend, a medium sweet crude extracted from the onshore OML150 block, represents a major milestone in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The successful offtake was conducted from the Tamara Tokoni, a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel owned by Century Group — a feat that highlights the growing competence and capacity of indigenous operators to meet global standards.

Comrade Ofoghan commended Sir Etete for his visionary leadership and commitment to indigenous innovation, stating that the export of OBODO Blend proves the strength of local expertise, infrastructure, and strategic industry collaboration.

“This milestone is a clear message that Nigeria’s oil producers are capable of delivering crude to the international market using indigenous infrastructure,” Ofoghan stated. “The Tamara Tokoni FPSO not only plays a vital role in production but is also central to export logistics, proving that Nigeria has both the tools and the talent to meet global energy demands.”

He further praised Sir Etete’s role in promoting peace and development across the Niger Delta and emphasized how this success aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic vision of increasing Nigeria’s daily oil output by an additional one million barrels per day (BPD).

Comrade Ofoghan also acknowledged the pivotal roles played by Oando Trading, NNPCL, and Continental Oil and Gas Ltd in this landmark operation, describing the collaboration as a strong signal that Nigeria is not only ready but equipped to lead in the global oil market through indigenous effort and innovation.

The first international lift of OBODO Blend marks a critical achievement for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic future. It reaffirms the country’s place on the global oil map, while underlining the transformative potential of local content and homegrown expertise in driving sustainable industry growth.
