Zikurebai Sworn-in as Chairman of IYC in Gbaramatu

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Gbaramatu Kingdom, has on Wednesday, April 10, inaugurated its new leadership following a peaceful and successful election. The event, held at the Ijaw House on March 10th, 2024, marked the official swearing-in ceremony of Comrade Oyinkuro Wazo Zikurebai as the new Chairman, along with other executive members.

The newly elected officials include Prosper Eguare as Vice Chairman, Tracy Edolor Lawei as Secretary General, Wisdom Pori as Assistant Secretary, Beauty Wuruyai as Financial Secretary, Uruemu Agakekeme Moses as Treasurer, John Ukuli as Mobilisation Officer, Afiyagba Peredisabofa Sonya as Woman Leader, Ebimotimi E. Ari as Information Officer, Onimide Ituebi as Clan Rep 1, Peter Pudie as Clan Rep 2, and Simon Douye as Student Rep.

During the inauguration ceremony, the National Spokesman of IYC Worldwide, Amb. Princewill Yerin Binebai, delivered a keynote address urging the new Chairman and his executive team to collaborate effectively in achieving the organization’s objectives.

In his inaugural speech, Mr. Oyinkuro Zikurebai expressed his commitment to working closely with his team and the national body of IYC, assuring that his administration would prioritize the welfare and development of the Gbaramatu clan.

He pledged to deliver on the promises made during the campaign period and emphasized the importance of unity and inclusivity within the organization.

Dignitaries present at the event included Chairman IYC Western Zone, Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Comrade Kingsley Egbejule, President, Gbaramatu Youth Council (IYC); Comrade Shadrack Onitsha Ebikeme, Immediate Past President of Gbaramatu Youth Council; Amb. Ben Mamamu;Comrade Godswill Doubra Wuruyai, Principal Secretary to the MD Tantita; Comr. Fanny Amatoru, National Treasurer IYC worldwide.

Others in attendance were Hon. Paul Uyatede, S.A to Delta State Governor; Barr. Friday Emotimide, President of the Lawyer Association of Gbaramatu Kingdom among others.
