‘Amanyanabo, the Eagle King’ is an untold story from Okrika land in Rivers state produced by Queen Bae Studios Production.
The movie is based on the true life story of an African Warrior King Ibanichuka (Ado VI), the last sovereign King of Okrika.
His reign was interrupted by British forces as a result of his struggle for the identity of his people.
Set in 1892 the movie highlights the rich culture of the people and the organized system in place at the time consisting of its customs, administration, economy, defense and foreign relations.
This story which has been retold through oral and written history will be captured on motion pictures for the very first time.
Speaking on the project the Executive Producer, Ibinabo Fiberesima, said she was moved to create the film after reading about King Ibanichuka and was surprised that this important history was not widely known.
Set along the creeks of Okrika in Nigeria’s Niger-Delta area, the movie was directed by Fred Amata and has a star-studded cast including Nkem Owoh who stars as Chief Ogan, Columbus Irosanga (Chief Dokube), Monalisa Chinda (Mboro), Walter Anga (Chief Okpokiri), Patrick Diabuah (King Ibanichuka), Uju Okoli (Ezinne), Lucien Morgan (Consul Ralph Moor), Gentle Jack (Alabo Igbanibo. Will-Braide aka Barboy), Soibifaa Dokubo (Nabuoso Okujagu) and Sonny McDon W (Omekwe Horsfal).
Post production work has been concluded by House of Illusion Studios and the date for the premiere will be announced soon.
