Dr. Praise Ebimaye Tangbe, a distinguished professor based in the United States of America, has launched the Moms & Infants Care Network, a transformative endeavor aimed at empowering maternal and infant health in the Niger Delta region.

Dr. Tangbe, the visionary founder of this noble initiative, recently shared insights into the organization’s mission and forthcoming activities in an exclusive interview with GbaramatuVoice.

“Moms and Infants Care Network (MICN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering an equitable environment that protects, improves, and promotes optimal health and wellbeing for mothers, children, and families,” Dr. Tangbe explains.

She elaborates on the theme of this year’s Community Health Fair, stating, “The theme ‘Promoting Healthy Environment for Women, Children & Families: Addressing Inequalities in Maternity Services through Strategic Partnerships’ was inspired by global initiatives such as the United Nations Women and Sustainable Development Goal 3, aiming to reduce maternal mortality rates and address inequalities in healthcare access.”

Regarding the free health screenings available at the fair, Dr. Tangbe mentions, “Partnering with various organizations, we will provide screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, dental health, eye health, BMI, and workshops on breast examination techniques.”

She emphasizes the importance of attendance for mothers, infants, and the community at large, highlighting the educational sessions and sense of community fostered by such events.

Dr. Tangbe details the essential supplies provided to attendees, including blood pressure machines, prescriptions medications, medicated eye glasses, baby supplies, and scholarships for female university students pursuing health-related fields.

She provides information on the dates and venues of the upcoming events, stating, “The pre-launch Community Health Fair will take place at Okerenkoko community town hall on March 16, 2024, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The official launch event will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Mom Civic Center, Warri, Delta State.”

Regarding involvement and support, Dr. Tangbe encourages community members to volunteer, donate supplies or funds, spread awareness, and advocate for resources and support for mothers and infants.

In conclusion, Dr. Tangbe expresses her hope that attendees will gain a deeper understanding of maternal and infant health challenges, feel empowered to make a difference, and commit to supporting the Moms & Infants Care Network’s mission.
