Senior High Chief Felix Idowu Asonja, the Ondo State Coordinator of Tantita Security Services (TSS), has expressed profound gratitude to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government of Nigeria for the successful delivery of the Okitipupa Power Substation in the southern senatorial district of Ondo State.
The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), recently completed and commissioned the 132/33kv electricity substation at Ode-Erinje in Okitipupa Local Government Area. This initiative aims to restore electricity to oil-producing communities in Ondo South Senatorial District, which have been without power for the past 15 years.
In a statement, Senior High Chief Asonja lauded the efforts of the government, emphasizing the significant socioeconomic impact this project will have on the region. He commended the leadership of the NDDC for their dedication to the project’s success and acknowledged the contributions of past and present political office holders in the southern senatorial district.
The project, commissioned on May 22, 2024, involved an investment of approximately 8.1 billion naira and encompassed various components, including the installation of transformers, rehabilitation of transmission lines, and construction of essential infrastructure.
Asonja extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and also commended Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for creating a conducive environment for project execution.
He also appreciated the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Dr. Samuel Ogbuku; the Executive Director of Projects, Director of Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt Hon Victor Etim Antai, Charles B. Ogunmola, former Executive Director, Projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and the Honourable Commissioner representing Ondo State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Otito Atikase.
Asonja further appreciated the efforts of some leaders who played a vital roles by ensuring that the project was completed. The exhaustive list includes the former House Committee on Niger Delta Affairs and Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Present Chairman, Commitment on Niger Delta Affairs at the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. ERHIATAKE Ibori-Suenu.
While applauding the contracting firm under the leadership of Chief Benson Obayelu for the timely completion and delivery of the project, Asonja commended Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, Hon Jimi Odimayo, Hon Donald Ojogo, Senators Nicholas Tofowomo and Yele Omogunwa, Executive Director (Engineering & Technical Services) at Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, Engr Ife Oyedele, Hon Mike Omogbehin, Hon Victor Kolade Akinjo, Hon Rasaq Obe and Executive director (Corporate Services), NDDC, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde
