In bid to further express their dissatisfaction with the current state of the nation, the Coalition of Niger Delta agitators on Monday said they would stage a mass protest in all Niger Delta States from September 12, warning that markets, schools and all other public institutions would not be opened, while they called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign his office, saying that his administration has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians in all ramifications.
In a statement rising from a meeting where they assessed the two years performance of the government and jointly signed by the heads of their different groups, the agitators said the country has seriously retrogressed under the present administration.
The Coalition further expressing dissatisfaction that President Buhari’s administration has not commission a single road project or improve on the epileptic power situation in the country amongst other infrastructures since its inauguration on May 29, 2015.
Signatories to the statement issued at the end of the meeting included General Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers; General Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors); Major-Gen. Henry Okon Etete (Niger Delta Peoples Fighters); Major-Gen. Asukwo Henshaw (Bakassi Freedom Fighters); Major-Gen. Ibinabo Horsfall (Niger Delta Movement for Justice); Major-Gen. Duke Emmanson (Niger Delta Fighters Network); Major-Gen. Inibeghe Adams (Niger Delta Freedom Mandate); Major-Gen. Abiye Tariah (Niger Delta Development Network) and Major-Gen. Joshua Ebere for Renewed Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta.
Others were Major-Gen. Jeremiah Athony Movement for Actualization of Niger Delta Republic; Major Francis Okoroafor for Niger Delta Freedom Redemption Army and Colonel Nelson Okochi Walter.
The agitators also denied withdrawing their quit notice to northerners and Yourubas from the south west resident in the coastal region, saying the October 1 ultimatum still stands.
The statement read in full: “Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators rose from meeting and called on President Buhari to resign for peace to reign in Nigeria as it is obvious that the President is not medically strong to work as the President of Nigerian state. It is on record that for the past two years, Mr. President has not constructed or commissioned even one kilometer of road. Electricity and other infrastructural projects are decaying by the day. Two years now, so many board and parastatals have not been constituted.
“Nigeria is operating without the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as at today even as important as that office is. Economy of Nigeria is going down every day coupled with current recession suffered by the people.
“It is also on record that Mr. President has been traveling to London hospital to treat an unknown ailment since he assumed office as President of Nigeria; Nigerian government keeps wasting Niger Delta money that supposed to be used for development of Niger Delta people and region unnecessarily, yet he is still not healthy to work.
“The President returning to the country is a welcome development, but he is not fit to carry out full function of the President, as he cannot even preside over Federal Executive Council meetings for the past two weeks.
“He tactically called for report of investigation of the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation – Mr. Babachir Lawal and Director-General of National Intelligence Agency in the place of Federal Executive Council meeting. Last week, the same trick was played again when he opted out to receive D’Tigress team after prayer and traveled the following day to his home town to celebrate Salah.
“Records show that President Buhari has travelled on several occasions to London for treatments from February 5 – 10, 2016 again on June 6, 2016; and in 2017 alone he has travelled on January 23 to March 2017 where he spent over 56 days, just after a month he went back to London hospital on May 7, 2017 where he also spent over 100 days and came back few weeks ago and his broadcast speech on his return that was staged-managed to deceive Nigerians could not even address the issues affecting the country neither did the said broadcast last up to 5 minutes, the same thing repeated itself again during the meeting with Security Chief in which the cabal claimed it lasted for three (3 hours).
“We challenge them to play the full clip of the meeting the president had with security chief, they should stop deceiving us. We demand to know what is wrong with the President, millions of Naira has been spent on him while millions of people are dying in abject poverty.
It is clearly shown that Nigeria today is currently ruled by the cabal which are: Abba Kyari – Chief of Staff to President; amman Daura – Nephew to President Buhari; Ismaila
