Returning officer for Delta LG election missing in Ayakoromo community

Few hours after some gunmen stormed the Ughelli Local Government Secretariat and set the complex ablaze, a Returning Officer has not shown up at his allotted polling unit.

There was apprehension when six hours after he was supposed to have resumed duty at the Ayakoromo Ward 7, the Retuning Officer attached to the ward in the Local Government Council elections slated to hold today has not shown up.

GbaramatuVoice reports that as at the time of filing up this report, at exactly 1:00pm, voting has not commenced in the unit.

Speaking with GbaramatuVoice,  the presiding officer stated that the returning officer was supposed to have accompanied him to the ward, but that he did not show up at the appointed time.

Voters were still waiting for the returning officer as at press time.
