Return NDDC to Presidency, Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom tells Buhari

A paramount ruler in Niger Delta, His Royal Majesty, King Obukowho Whiskey, has renewed the call for President Muhammadu Buhari to return the supervision of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to the Presidency for proper monitoring of the agency.

King Whiskey, Udurhie I, Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, stressed the need for the President to inaugurate the NDDC Board already screened and cleared by the Senate, instead of the newly appointed Sole Administrator.

King Whiskey, in the letter dated March 12, 2021, made available to newsmen, maintained that the position of Sole Administrator was illegal and strange to the NDDC Establishment Act, stressing that President Buhari should rather inaugurate the already approved board under the chairmanship of Dr. Pius Odubu, with Olorogun Bernard Okumagba as the Managing Director.

He stated that having tried the use of the Interim Management Committees (IMCs), which he said was also illegal and strange to the NDDC Establishment Act, the best option for the president would have been the inauguration of the board.
