WARRI~ The President, National Association of Gbaramatu Students ( NAGS) , an umbrella body covering all students in the Kingdom Comr. Seiyefa Ekpemupolo in Warri South West local Government Area of Delta State have expressed worries on what he described as “the continued illegal detention of 10 innocent indigenes of the Kingdom.”
This was contained in a statement signed and sent to Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper through its gmail account frowns at the military invasion that greeted the Kingdom by the Nigerian Military which saw the whisking away of 10 innocent indigenes of the Kingdom.
“Our attention has been drawn to the continued illegal detention of our 10 innocent boys that was wantonly arrested by the military on May 28th 2016, the arrested innocent indigenes comprises palace staff and students, some of them are students that needs to go back to school even if they have missed their WAEC and NECO examinations, we want to state categorically that those boys are not members of Niger Delta Avengers and have no link or whatsoever to the group to have experienced such inhuman treatment, hence we demand for their immediate release. It is so regretful that while we are facing environmental degradation and and the fear of Niger Delta Avengers, the federal Government on their part has turned against us by indiscriminately molesting, arresting and intimidating our people, the federal Government is supposed to be protecting us and not this inimical approach, the arrested youths includes, Ebis Emma Job (SS1 Student, Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza),Philip Gagha(Palace Cook), Andrew (Palace driver), Tebe-ebi ( Palace tailor), Emotimifagha (Student of Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza), John David (Student of Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza), Solomon teiwei (Student of Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza), Oromoni Peter Miyebi, (Community boy), God’spower Abraham (Student of Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza), Bright (mechanic)”. The Statement queried.
Comr. Seiyefa further added that this is the highest level of oppression and calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to have a rethink and order his military to immediately release the youths to be reunited with their families and face the realities of their academics.
“We cannot continue to pretend as if all is well when our brothers are out there languishing with no moral and legal justification for their arrest, we are gradually returning to dictatorship, this is impunity in a broad daylight” he remarks.
