President Bola Tinubu announced on Monday that the deplorable East-West Expressway, which traverses several states in the Niger Delta region, will be rehabilitated by the Chinese construction firm China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Limited (CCECC).
During a working visit to CCECC’s corporate headquarters in Beijing, the President explained that the quality of work being executed by the construction company in Nigeria influenced his government’s decision to award the contract for the complete rehabilitation and reconstruction of the highway to CCECC.
“We have seen the excellent work carried out by your company in Nigeria, and I want to assure you here that I will sign the contract for the East-West road for you to reconstruct before I leave here,” President Tinubu stated.
He also expressed his administration’s commitment to working with CCECC, particularly in laying new tracks along the Lagos-Abuja-Kano rail line, among other projects.
Assuring the international construction firm of Nigeria’s readiness, he added, “We have gone beyond the issue of funding and are now very ready for business.”
