Police Recover Kidnapped Victims of Agofure Bus

The Rivers State Police Command speaking through its Public Relations Officer,  Nnamdi Omoni, has announced the recovery of 12 out of the 14 abducted victims of the Agofure bus returning to Port Harcourt from Warri whose driver was shot dead recently in Rumuekpe, Emohua LGA.

Omoni said their release was effected when the Police raided the den of the kidnappers in Rumuekpe and stated that one of the hoodlums was killed in the ensuing shootout. Their hideout was also ransacked. Efforts are still on to rescue the remaining two victims, he explained.

Meanwhile, the Police is yet to speak on the pirates’ attack at Bakana Jetty where 7 speedboats were carted away by the hoodlums after shooting sporadically into the air to scare away onlookers.

The youth leader of Bakana, Francis Dick, described the incident as unfortunate and urged the Police to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book as criminal activities have been on the increase in the area lately.
