Poem of the week: Ozigizaga by Vanessa Prebor

In Ijaw land, where waters gleam so bright,
A dance emerges, pure joy takes its flight.
Ozigizaga, the rhythm in our veins,
A dance of unity, where no heart restrains.

To the beat of drums, and joyful songs we sway,
In harmony, we dance the Ijaw way.
Hands held together, hearts full of delight,
Ozigizaga’s spirit, a shining light.

With every step, our cultures intertwine,
In Ozigizaga, a bond that’s divine.
From village to village, shore to distant shore,
This dance of unity, forever we’ll adore.

Brought to life by Chief Promise Lawuru’s hands, From Egbema Ijaw kingdom, where unity stands.

In the Ijaw heart, this dance will forever live,
Ozigizaga, the love it has to give.
A celebration of heritage, culture so grand,
In unity we stand, hand in hand.

Ozigizaga, the dance that unites our souls,
In every heart, its harmony unfolds.
In the Ijaw nation, we proudly say,
Ozigizaga, forever we shall sway.
