The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has urged students under the Programme’s foreign scholarship scheme to take their studies seriously and justify the Federal Government’s investment in their education.
Speaking during a meeting with PAP scholarship students in the United Kingdom on Sunday, Otuaro emphasized the importance of academic excellence, noting that the scholarship scheme has already produced numerous graduates with first-class and second-class upper degrees in competitive fields, including sciences and clinical sciences.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Otuaro highlighted that the current administration is committed to enhancing the scholarship scheme to bridge the human capacity gap in the Niger Delta. He also reassured the students that their welfare remains a priority under the ongoing reintegration phase of the programme.
Dr. Otuaro called on the students to maintain the high academic standards set by previous PAP scholars and to be exemplary ambassadors of the Niger Delta, urging them to avoid any actions that could tarnish the reputation of their communities and the country.
Expressing his appreciation, Otuaro acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s support for the programme, noting that the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda is aligned with the goals of peace, security, and socio-economic development in the Niger Delta. He encouraged the students to live up to the expectations and continue contributing to the region’s transformation through their academic achievements.
In response, the students expressed gratitude for Otuaro’s visit and the ongoing support from the PAP, pledging to excel in their studies and uphold the integrity of the scholarship scheme.
