The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Deputy Governor and Coordinator of Successful Christian Global Outreach, Evang. (Mrs) Doris Warri Aboh, on Saturday took the message of hope and love to the inmates of Warri Prison, after a football match organized between the inmates and a local football club, as part of the birthday celebration of the number two man in the state.
Evang. Aboh, while addressing the inmates noted that the football match was organized in honour of Barr. Otuaro’s 50th birthday celebration, adding that the Deputy Governor, who is a Chelsea fan and a lover of sports, sees football as a unifying factor of harmony and peace building.
Evang. Aboh, who took the kick off to commence the game, encourage the inmates not to lose hope, or feel rejected or condemned, as God in his infinite mercy will intervene in their individual situations .
She further expressed the love of the Deputy Governor to them, saying, “I bring love and good tidings from the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, whom you always call your ‘father, ‘the righteous man of God’.
“Be strong in your prayers and have faith, as the Deputy Governor has always remembered you all in his prayers”. She added.
Ayoko Football Club, Okere, Warri, a football club made up of the inmates in the Warri prison yesterday, defeated Delta Waves Football Club of Warri, a local football club, by 5 goals to 4 via a penalty shootout.
The football match which took place inside the Warri prison was organized by the Successful Christian Global Outreach, in collaboration with Christ Embassy Prison Life Fellowship, Warri, in honour of the 50th birthday celebration of the Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro.
The football match which kicked off at about 11.15 a.m, made of two halves of 25 minutes each and it ended goalless at regulation time, with both sides exhibiting silky football skills and dexterity to the cheers and admiration of the inmates and visitors.
However, Ayoko football club Okere, whose patron is the celebrant, the Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, who also doubles as the coordinator of Christ Embassy Prison Life Fellowship, Warri, converted all their 5 penalties, while the visiting team, Delta Waves Football Club, only managed to convert 4 of theirs.
The Deputy Governor’s aide, noted that the state Deputy Governor who is an advocate of peace building, has always seen football as a game of love, meant to unite people irrespective of their differences.
The Warri prison Chaplain, Rev. Patrick Uhinkhifun, while extending his felicitation to the state Deputy Governor, described him as a man who has always shown love to the prison inmates.
Rev. Uhinkhifun who commended the Senior Special Assistant and the Christ Embassy life fellowship Warri, for organizing the football match to show love and honour to the state Deputy Governor, used the occasion to appeal to the Deputy Governor, to come to the aid of the inmates through the provision of some basic amenities.
Captains of the visiting team and the prison inmates, while receiving cash prizes donated to them by the successful Christian Global Outreach, on behalf of the teams expressed their joy and appreciation to the Deputy Governor and the organizers of the football match.
They prayed to God to continue, to bless and protect the celebrant, who is like a father to them and have continued to encourage them spiritually and financially.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of gift items worth thousands of Naira by the Dep. Governor’s Media aide, to the inmates in commemoration of the Deputy Governor’s 50th birthday.
