The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barr Kingsley Otuaro has disclosed plans to distribute football kits and other take-home items to Okerenkoko, winner of 2019 Gbaramatu Amaseikumor Football Tournament and, the 2nd place winner on June 30.
This was disclosed by the President of Gbaramatu Youth Council, GYC, Comrade Christopher Wuruyai in Warri, June 29.
It would be recalled that GbaramatuVoice had earlier reported the victory of Okerenkoko over Oporoza in a penalty shoot out that ended 5-4, during the Amaseikumor 2019 football competition that was held in Oporoza town, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of the state.
Otuaro revealed that he would be donating the football items to support the team and encourage the players.
It was noted that Otuaro with some government officials would be at Okerenkoko community town hall on June 30 by 12noon, where and when the ceremony would take place.
Commenting on the move by the deputy governor, the Publisher of GbaramatuVoice, Mr. Jacobs Abai characterised it by “motivating initiative”.
“Barr. Otuaro has always been a man of ability in anything he is capable of doing and people have seen motivation in whatever thing he has done and his attitude is tailored to showing people how well he can do anything he wants to do,” said Abai.
When our reporter sought the opinion of some members of Gbaramatu Kingdom, a man who would not want his name in print said that Otuaro was one man who would do what others who were richer than him wouldn’t in the area of assisting people.
It was note that Otuaro loved sports so much that he played for the Gbaramatu Kingdom. Those who noted his performance as a footballer said that football was life to Otuaro and he suffered self-denial, sacrifice, hard work, dedication when he played for his Kingdom.
It is believed that the youths would learn from Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, who, when in active football, did not see it as all about football.
