The immediate past Ijaw Commissioner, Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief Favour Izoukumor celebrates the life and legacies of his father as he marks the one year anniversary of his late father Chief. Tom Ogbeyerine Olioki Izoukumor at his residence in Ogbe-Ijoh town.
Chief Izoukumor, who is also the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairman of Warri South West LGA, noted that fathers are heroes and blessings in the family therefore they should be treasured at all cost.
“Fathers are special people in our lives and sometimes they are our heroes, others might sometimes play the fatherly role in our lives but it is nothing compared to one’s biological father,” be stated
Chief. Tom, until his death was a man of peace and love, he was a skilled fisherman who made a living with his fishing skills and ensured that his family and friends were never in lack.
Chief Izoukumor while paying tribute to his late father has urged children to love and respect their fathers as no one could cover the vacuum created by the death of his father in the last one year.
The fiyewei of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri kingdom, further stated that his father was a symbol of unity as he has always brought his immediate and extended family members together while he was life. It is worthy of note to say that Chief. Olioki was Chief Favour’s most important influence in life and he lived a fulfilled life while on earth.
Chief Izoukumor said even though he knew death was looming, he didn’t know it would come so soon. He was hoping there would have been more time to get acquainted with the idea of death and what it means for those of those left behind.
He said “Now I am beginning to understand just how naive my existence was before I was forced to confront death’s discourteous blow. I lost my Dad. But only in body, not in spirit. This is by far the most painful and heart-ripping and life-altering experience I’ve endured.
But I do my best to remain grateful and comforted knowing how much my beloved Dad positively affected the lives of others. He was the most sincerely altruistic person I have ever known with no attachment to material things — he would literally give you the clothes he was wearing. All you had to do was mention you liked something and he would immediately insist on giving it to you.
I know the pain of losing my Dad will perhaps never leave me. I imagine it will ease with time as I process and get through it, but I don’t suspect I will get over it. How can I? How can you get over a person who has been there since before you were even aware of yourself?” He concluded with prayers to the repose soul of his father Late Chief. Tom Olioki Ogbeyerine Izoukumor.
