•To make Okerenkoko the ICT Hub is our concern-Sokoto
The Executive Committee of Okerenkoko Federated Community, OFC, has declared that they are set to transform the community through massive deployment of infrastructural development.
The Executive Committee stated this in their Annual Report signed by Engr. Ebikonde Victor Sokoto (General Secretary) of the community which a copy was made available to GbaramatuVoice.
OFC Executive in that report stated that their primary concern is to attract social infrastructure; telecommunication/ICT to enable their community enjoy good communication network like her sister communities.
They explained that several attempts were made by successive administration in the past without result. Hence, this new executive decision to engage a reliable consultant to handle the job.
OFC then added that the good news is that Okerenkoko now has a full-blown MTN network while Airtel is also on the verge of test running their own network in the community.
These network facilities will greatly aid the activities of the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU) which the community is the host, they stated.
In the same vein, the Executive explained that part of their long-term vision is to make Okerenkoko the ICT Hub of the Kingdom, and come January, according to the report, will mark the groundbreaking ceremony of the project.
The report further stated that the Executive hope to equip the student teachers posted to the community with profitable IT skills and business development opportunities. They further explained that the operational office has been approved adding that construction/ installation work shall commence come January 2018.
While thanking the community for the massive support given to them so far, they added that this achievement is a sign of the remarkable things to come.
In a related development, the Okerenkoko Federated Community Executive through the report informed the community that plans are underway to make this Christmas period a memorable one.
Giving details, the body explained that come 20th December 2017, they will be distributing food items and other consumables to all in the community while adding that they will also host the community to a beach carnival on 1st January 2018.
