Ogbe-Ijoh/Aladja Crisis: Group lifts embargo on political campaigns in Ogbe-Ijoh
…Decision followed swift intervention by well meaning indigenes, others – Mamamu
A political pressure group, Independent GrassRoots Liberators, has lifted the ban placed a few days ago on political campaigns in Ogbe-Ijoh, headquarters of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state.
Recall that GbaramatVoice had earlier reported that the Independent GrassRoots Liberators on Friday November 18, 2022, placed embargo on political campaigns and other political gatherings within the community in protest of the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s led Delta state government protracted inabilities, lackadaisical attitude and outright lack of political will to settles the age long conflict between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja.
Conversely, in a fresh statement signed by the group’s leader, Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore , and made available to GbaramatuVoice on Monday, November 21, 2022, the group explained that the ban of political campaigns has been lifted following a swift intervention by respected leaders from the community and others in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The statement reads: “We have resolved that the ban be lifted for now as we look forward to seeing them addressing our demands within the shortest period of time.
IGL however, added that the lifting of the ban remains a temporary measure, noting that if leaders in question fail to address the demands by the Group before the major campaigns in the local government; IGL will be left with no other option than to make sure that such gathering is disrupted. .
“It is in their best interests to resolve this matter squarely before it is too late where the falcon can no longer hear the falconer.” The statement concluded.
