OBITUARY: Egbema kingdom sets to host dignitaries as Warri North Council Chairman plans a befitting burial for his father
All is set for the burial ceremony of late High Chief Simeon Ukoko Asekutu, the Bebekurowei of Egbema Kingdom, father of Hon. Smart Asekutu, the Executive Chairman of Warri North Local government area of Delta State.
The late Pa Asekutu passed away, Saturday, December 17, 2022 at a glorious age of 83 years in Sapele.
The event, which will have the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and his Deputy, Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro in attendance will hold in the oil-rich Tsekelewu (Polobubo) community in Egbema kingdom.
According to the burial arrangements released by the family, the final burial rite will commence with social outing for friends and well-wishers by 10am on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Similarly, on Friday, February 17, 2023 by 8am, the body of the departed High Chief will leave Chief Obule’s Mortuary Through Pontu Waterside in Sapele to his hometown Tsekelewu (Polobubo) in Egbema Kingdom, for a social wake keeping at his compound from 7:00pm till dawn.
This will be followed by a Funeral Services on Saturday, February 18, 2023 by 10:am and after which, another round of wake keep will commence from 7:00pm till dawn.
The release revealed that the departed octogenarian was survived by three (3) wives, fifteen (15) children, forty (40) grandchildren and ten (10) great grandchildren.
Names of the children as released in the statement include; Hon. Smart Olorunyomi Asekutu, Chairman, Warri North Local Government Council; Comrade Wilson Asekutu, Chevron Nig Ltd; Mrs Dora Asekutu Tominiwei, Business Woman; Engr Roman Asekutu, Chevron Nig Ltd; Dcn. Bassey Ebielate Asekutu, GM, BennyPaul Petroleum Ltd; Holy Asekutu; Mrs Evelyn Asekutu Census; Mrs Powei Asekutu Felix.
Others are Mr Daniel Asekutu ; Miss Peace Asekutu; Mr Aaron Asekutu; Miss Rachel Godspower; Ebidiseobofa Aseku; Progress Asekutu and Divine Asekutu.
Others expected at the burial ceremony include the Delta State People Democratic Party (PDP) top echelon, religious and traditional leaders, experts in the oil and gas industry, close associates, members of both close and extended families, different social and cultural groups, among others.
The family also invites friends and well wishers including the general public to the burial ceremony.
