The Bayelsa State government has dismissed as “wicked rumour” the alleged plan by the state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson to dissolve the state executive council.
The state government through the office of the commissioner of information and orientation, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite said the claim was a wicked imagination of some politicians.
According to Obuebite, “I am a commissioner and am supposed to know. This is another wicked rumour by people wishing to slow down the performance of the restoration government.”
Some politicians in the state had during the weekend claimed that the Governor Dickson is set to rejig his administration with the dissolution of the State Executive Council (SEC).
The plan, according to the sources, is already in motion with the directive to all members of the State Exco to start preparing their handover note, may take place this week after the state visit of the former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
It was gathered that the directive was given at a meeting with state commissioners in Yenagoa.
It was gathered that the plan to dissolve the state exco came few days after the dissolution of the Caretaker Committee of the Eight Local Government Areas of the state.
They alleged that the decision is based on noticeable signs of lacklustre performance, political distraction and divided loyalty among some state commissioners and other political appointees.
Also some of the state commissioners are believed not to be totally committed to the ideals of the Restoration Administration of Gov. Seriake Dickson due to the rising storm on the issue of choice of successor in 2019.
While most of the state commissioners are accused of playing politics with the policies of the present administration in the absence of the state governor while on an investment tour of Abuja, others claimed the decision may be based on the divided loyalty of the council members among the Nembe/Ogbia and Central Senatorial axis ahead of issue of successor.
Attempt to get the position of the state government on the matter proved abortive as most Political Appointees declined to comment.
