The Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe (Agadagba), has heaped praises on Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State for his developmental projects in his kingdom.
The king, Oboro Gbaraun II Aketekpe (Agadagba), stated this on Thursday when Governor Okowa alongside his deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, visited Gbaramatu kingdom to commission the 2.3 kilometre road in Benikrukru community.
Governor Okowa, alongside his entourage, later paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the revered traditional ruler who stated that the people of Gbaramatu kingdom have not had it this good since the inception of democratic rule in 1999 and Governor Okowa was the first and only governor to break into the riverine communities with projects.

Reacting, Governor Okowa also thanked the monarch for creating an enabling environment for development to foster.
Okowa said: “Thanks for all you have done for us as a state government particularly in ensuring peace in Gbaramatu Kingdom. Without Peace, it is impossible to develop any place and whatever we have been able to do in Gbaramatu Kingdom is because you have provided the enabling environment and we are grateful for all you have done to ensure peace.”

Also, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, the Fiyewei (spokesman) of Gbaramatu Kingdom, while giving his welcome address, pleaded with the governor to help construct the Oporoza-Azama-Inikorogha-Ubafan Road as it will be helpful to the community urging Governor Okowa to make the road project a parting gift to his royal majesty.
Also, Fiyewei stated that the contractor who is in charge of the Kunukunuma community internal road is complaining about a small bridge connecting the road and he wants the bridge included in his work as this will authenticate his job.
The Gbaramatu spokesman also appreciated the governor for all he has done in developing the Gbaramatu Kingdom and, like Oliver Twist, he pleaded for more developmental and political appointments.
Fiyewei also appreciated the governor for the cordial relationship he shares with the deputy governor, Barr. Kingsely Otuaro, who is a son of the kingdom.
He said: “For everything that you have done, we thank you for the peace that exists between you and our son, the Deputy Governor of Delta State.
Governor Okowa, while reacting to the demands of Fiyewei stated that his administration, which is almost about to come to an end, will try as much as possible to start some of the projects even if all of them may not be completed during his tenure.
He also stated that the issue with the contractor handling the Kunukunuma Community internal road will be looked into and resolved.
Those on the governor’s entourage include Senator James Manager, representing Delta South Senatorial District; Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu Federal Constituency; Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, member representing Warri South West Constituency in the state house of assembly; commissioners and other top government officials.
