Niger Delta youths take part in Aaron Bebenimibo’s 20th Remembrance Walk
Hundreds of Niger Delta youths on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, joined the people of Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state, to mark the 20th Remembrance Walk of Apostle Aaron Bebenimibo.
The event was to commemorate the passing away of the activist and freedom fighter as well as to celebrate his legacy in the Niger Delta struggle.
The event, witnessed the gathering of
family, friends and associates from all works of life and from all over the country as they poured out their encomiums on the late Apostle Aaron Bebenimibo aka The Bull of the Niger Delta.
The family, speaking about the late activist, tasked Niger – Delta youths to respect the sacrifices of the heroes of the struggle by consolidating on the ideals of the struggle.
The family posited that the new mode of agitation is through pen and skills and no longer with force or ammunition.
Speaking also, Apostle Mosco Johnny in his tribute to the fallen hero highlighted key roles played by the late Aaron in the liberation of the Niger Delta people from exclusion, oppression and environmental hazards.
According to Apostle Johnny, Aaron would always tell them that this struggle will bring development to the Niger Delta such as good road, portable water, primary health-care and equal opportunity in political involvement.
He however pointed out that despite the fact that there is still more to be done, “we can say we have come a long way from where we used to be”.
The high point of the event was the formal presentation of a book abstract in honor of Apostle Aaron Bebenimibo and the other heros of the Niger Delta struggle titled: The greatness journey of the Niger Delta; Life applicable lessons from the times and life of Apostle Aaron Bebenimibo.
Speaking on behalf of the family Chief Simeon Bebenimibo appreciated all who came to celebrate with them and prayed journey mercies back to their destination.
