The Niger Delta Avengers that have been responsible in the spate of bombings on the Country’s Oil facilities that have brought our production level from a near collapse have recently expressed that they want a genuine dialogue with peace and honour.
This was contained in a press release signed and circulated to media outlets by the group’s spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Mudock Agbinibo yesterday.
The statement maintained that the Niger Delta Struggle is not for political thugs and caution Chief Ayiri Emami and his gangs as APC agents that are undermining the Niger Delta struggle for a mere pipeline contract job.
The statement also condemned the linking of the Niger Delta Avengers as being part of a meeting in the Delta State Government House, Asaba with Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of State petroleum resources.
The press release also accused Chief Ayiri Emami and his group for rebranding and re-arming the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) to achieve their personal aim.
The statement reads in part :
“We are watching with keen interest the unwholesome activities of the political thugs and agents of APC to undermine the Niger Delta struggle in the likes of Mr. Ayiri and gangs. Few days ago, he and his group was parading, regrouping, rebranding and re-arming defunct Ex-MEND and settled Militants leaders discussing pipelines, oil and gas facilities contract in Edo State Government house. Today he and his co-travelers are in delta state Government house, the Itsekiri Militants leader with community leaders and unfortunately branding them as representatives of Niger Delta Avengers for self-gain and political survivals.”
