Niger Delta Traditional Rulers Reiterate Strong Backing for PAP Administrator, Maj-Gen Barry Ndiomu

Traditional rulers in the Niger Delta, operating under the umbrella of the Ijaw Traditional Rulers Forum in Delta State, have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Maj-Gen Barry Ndiomu (rtd).

Led by His Royal Majesty, Elder (Capt.) Dr. King Joseph I. Timiyan, Agbonu, Torububor 1, the Chairman of the forum and the Paramount Ruler of the oil-rich Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, the monarchs commended Ndiomu for his dedication to stabilizing peace in the region and his approach to conflict resolution and wealth creation for ex-agitators.

A statement from the media office of the PAP, quoted the monarch to have made the remark in Warri, Delta State, when Ndiomu visited him during an official tour to the city at the weekend.

The monarchs expressed their appreciation for his respect for traditional rulers and described him as a true Ijaw son who has been the most accessible head of the PAP to date. They pledged their continued support for Ndiomu, emphasizing that he has delivered on many of his promises to the region.

He said: “We have seen a new dawn for the amnesty programme under your (Ndiomu) leadership. Unlike in the past, when others who were there do not relate with us, your case is different. Always sharing ideas with us on how to move the amnesty programme forward.

“You always make yourself available. And you have fulfilled most of the promises you made when you came. One good thing about you is the kind of respect you have accorded us as traditional rulers. You love and hold in high esteem the traditional institution which is a very good thing.

“Indeed you’re a true ijaw son. I pray for better days for you and let me again assure you that we will continue to defend you. We will not allow anyone to spoil your good works”.

In response, Ndiomu expressed his gratitude for the traditional rulers’ support, acknowledging that their encouragement has been a source of strength for him. He also praised King Timiyan’s exemplary leadership, which has contributed significantly to peace, unity, and development in Ogulagha Kingdom.
