*As students calls on Niger Delta patriots to support vision
The umbrella body covering all students in the Niger Delta region, the National Association of Niger Delta Students, NANDS have presented an award to Mr. Ekomieyefa Uduboh, a Niger Delta philanthropist and alleged advocate for good governance as the 21th Century Icon of Hope and Inspiration to Younger Generation award.
Presenting the award to Mr. Uduboh, the MD/CEO of KFT Uduboh Nig. Ltd, on behalf of the Niger Delta students in Warri, the President Comr. Lucky Emonefe particularly praised Ekomieyefa for his huge contributions in community development in the region.
Comr. Lucky commended Uduboh for his efforts in advocating for a sustainable peace and a better society, stressing that the region has been grappling with barrages of problems confronting it, while rolling out his programmes.
The NANDS president appeals to well meaning Niger Deltans to key into their initiatives by supporting their programmes financially and otherwise to enable them impact positively to the region and the Nigerian State at large.
Reacting sharply after receiving the award, Mr. Uduboh appreciated the students for their intellectual contributions in the advancement of the Niger Delta and the Nigerian State in general.
The Niger Delta business tycoon commended the President of NANDS for his well thought out programmes, adding that he would continue to partner with the students and other good Niger Delta groups for the betterment of the region.
In his words “I am so excited for this award that is given to me by members of the National Association of Niger Delta Students, NANDS, I want to pledge that this award will spore me to do more, I will work with the student leadership to see what can be done about your programmes ” He said.
The president who spoke through a welcome address before the presentation of the award to Mr. Ekomieyefa, noted that the student group have keenly monitored and followed up all the humanitarian activities carried out by the business magnet before presenting it to him.
The address read in part “It is with a high degree of humility and a heart filled with joy that I stand here today on behalf of the over 10 million members of the National Association of Niger-Delta students (NANDS), the umbrella body of all Niger-Delta students in tertiary institution of learning, schooling both at home and in the Diaspora. We bring to you and the good people of Delta state esteem greetings of solidarity. And I am indeed proud and privileged to present this keynote address on this epoch making ceremony of award presentation to you deservedly tagged: “21ST CENTURY ICON OF HOPE AND INSPIRATION TO THE YOUNGER GENERATION”
“However, the Association is also empowered to recognize Distinguished Niger-Delta personalities who has excelled in their chosen endeavor of life and has contributed to the growth and development of the society, It is on this note that the fact finding committee of the Niger Delta students nominated you for this prestigious Award of excellence after thorough perusal of your antecedents most especially outstanding leadership qualities, your strong commitments and contributions towards building a better society, as well as your relentless efforts in advocating for peace and sustainable development in the Niger Delta Region. Thus, by the virtue of this Award, we wish to assure you that the over 10 million Niger Delta students will always stand by you in all your future endeavors” Comr. Omonefe noted.
