A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation (EBF), has called on federal, state and local governments to partner with progressive organizations and civil society groups to improve quality of education and learning in the Niger Delta.
The founder of the NGO, Deacon Ernest Bebenimibo, who made this known on Thursday also advocated for the riverine dwellers, noting that their learning environments should be made conducive.
Deacon Ernest Bebenimibo, who took his project tagged “Street to School 2023″ to riverine area gave out free school bags, books and other learning materials to over 110 pupils of Bobougbene Primary School, Bobougbene in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state.
While presenting materials to the pupils, he said that the motive behind the donation was to improve teaching and learning among the people of the Niger Delta region.
Deacon Ernest explained to the children that as a son from the creeks of the Niger Delta, he is passionate about encouraging kids in the region to take their education seriously as the future is bright for the educated one.
Recall that EBF had in previous years carried similar educational outreach along the riverine communities in Niger Delta such as Delta, Bayelsa, Edo and Ondo. This is the first official educational outreach in 2023 Street2 School which took place at one the riverine Niger delta communities Bubogbene Primary, in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state.
“This is the first phase of Street2School and the train moves to other school as from next week then go to other States, Edo, Ondo And Bayelsa Look out for more updates.
“Our Mandate as an organization is to reach out as much as we can within and outside Niger Delta, Nigeria and Africa at large.
“Our core message to the children is that they should be hopeful because, surely their tomorrow will be greater than today if they work hard, maintain focus, read their books and learn a skill,” he added.
“The federal, state and local governments should partner with progressive NGOs and civil society groups to impact the society positively, particularly the riverine dwellers as their learning environments should be made conducive,” he added.
GbaramatuVoice gathered that the pupils, teachers and community leaders present were overwhelmed with joy as they poured out torrent of prayers for all volunteers, donors, supporters and leaders of Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation (EBF).
The Headmaster of Bobougbene Primary School, Mr Bony Miyenkoromo in his remarks appreciated the team of Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation, that was led by the president, noting that this is the first time ever for them to receive an NGO to reach out to the kids here in their school. He appreciated all those who made it to come and pray for safe trip to their destinations.
Chairman of Bobougbene community, Mr. Alfred Arerebo also expressed gratitude to God by touching the heart of Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation to remember Bobougbene Primary School Bobougbene.
