The Chief Executive Officer/Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroluem Corporation, Mele Kyari on Thursday led a delegation from the oil and gas industry to the Niger Delta to seek support for the protection of oil and gas installations in the country, GbaramatuVoice reports.
Kyari who was accompanied by top officials of the NNPC Limited and Chevron Nigeria Limited visited the Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba and other respected traditional rulers in the Niger Delta, including the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III in a separate meeting in Warri.
Speaking at the meeting in Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, the NNPC CEO/GMD said that the development of the Niger Delta can be achieved under an atmosphere of cooperation by all stakeholders.

To achieve this development, Kyari explained further that apart from synergy among the right people, the Communities and institutions within the region, the protection of oil and gas facilities was vital.
“Mr. President has directed and I have his consent to assure you that employment to the Niger Delta, particular in new institutions will be done. In consultation with your royal majesties and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo.
