Meet Tompolo’s man that rejected N25m bribe from owners of the intercepted vessel in Delta

It is no longer news that Tantita Security Personnel on Thursday, October 7, 2022 successfully arrested a crude oil tanker, MT Deinmo, with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) number 7210526, loaded with an unspecified quantity of crude oil at the Escravos River in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state.

What is, however, newsy is that the development has again rekindled the hope that despite Nigerians long romance with, and love for corruption, there exists some of her citizens that cannot be corrupted.

[EXCLUSIVE] Tompolo intercepts massive vessel loaded with illegal crude oil in Delta

A typical example of such a Nigerian is Chief Ebipade Kari, the Operational Head of Tantita Security Services Limited and the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and former leader of the defunct Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND).

Kari who led the operation that intercepted the ship gave a graphic description to GbaramatuVoice of how the suspects offered him a bribe of Twenty Five Million Naira (N25m) to let the ship go but he turned down the offer.

Giving details of what happened on that day, he said: “We got a tip off that a ship was loading at the Escravos axis. The Tantita security personnel went to the place and got the ship arrested’’.

He explained that the ship is 1,500 metric tons and had on board eight all Nigerian crew members.

According to him, “While I insisted that the crew must be taken to Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom, where Tantita operational office is located. Their boss was begging me through the captain of the ship to offer me a bribe of N25m which he promised to deliver in dollars, so that I can let the ship go. But I turned down the offer’.

For us at GbaramatuVoice, Ebipade by this particular feat remains a beacon of hope and a true ambassador of a new Nigeria of our dreams. He should in our views be celebrated by the management of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Federal Government and other well meaning Nigerians.
