The outspoken Daniel vowed to work unrelentingly on the instructions of the state governor in making sure that the state has the ambiance of peace in all the nook and crannies of the state.
This was contained in a press briefing personally signed by Daniel in Warri, August 19 and made available to GbaramatuVoice, the leading and most trusted newspapers in Niger Delta.
According to Daniel, “On behalf of my dear family, the People Democratic Party, PDP, the good people of Warri North Local government Area and the entire Ijaw people of our great Delta State, I sincerely express my heartfelt gratitude to our most respected and revered number one citizen of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi. Arthur Okowa and others for deeming me worthy of the appointment of Senior Special Assistant on Security.
“I want to assure His Excellency that as his SSA on Security, I will work assiduously on behalf of the good people of Delta state on his instructions in making sure that Delta State is safe to the envy of other states across the country.”
Daniel lamented that disturbances of sea pirates in the state would be a thing of the past as far as he was concerned. He assured transporters of a safe travel on the seas forthwith.
He said, “The state is disturbed over pirates frequent attacks on commercial transporters and residents among riveriside dwellers from Warri to Burutu routes, to Agge Delta boundaries, from Warri to Escravos, to Warri North Rivers of the state.
“We are very much concerned about it. It is our warning that such criminal elements should clear off our water ways as the state government will no longer condone their criminal acts (even though the government had not treated them with the kid’s glove).
“Any one caught will be dealt with as a common criminal. I want to assure the riverside dwellers and travellers in the state that the state government would soon roll out waterways patrol which may finally put to an end pirates attacks.
Daniel pointed out that cultists activities would be fought in the state without an iota of weakness, adding that the state government would put their practices to an end.
According to him, “The state government is much concerned about the increase of cultism in our dear state. The act of this miscreants have destroyed night life in our cities and communities. Law abiding citizens are harassed and intimidated on daily basis.
“It makes life unpleasant in the state, and the state can no longer condone it. We are assuring Deltans that the security apparatchiks will do more to address this menace. It is our warning that those persons who are into such criminal activities should repent now, because any one caught may be jailed for life.
“The people’s governor, Dr Ifeanyi Aurthor Okowa will soon inaugurate special team of security men to tackle the menace of street cultism and other related vices.”
He talked on herdsmen attacks in the state and gave hope that Okowa was on top gear to bring to an end the malady.
He said, “It is also a fact that our people are facing serious herdsmen attacks in the recent times; the state is working assiduously to nip this in bud.
“Special task force, including community vigilantes, will soon be put in place to forestall the deadly herdsmen attacks in our highways and communities as to create safe environment for our communities and farmers to go about their normal duties without any molestation.
“It is our warning that herdsmen who will not do their business peacefully should leave the state without further delay as the state government will no longer fold its hands and watch reckless and barbaric herdsmen attack law abiding citizens of the state.”
Comrade Daniel cried out against drug abuse among youth in the state, warning that those indulging in the practice should expect draconian actions against them.
He said, “We are aware that the abuse of use of drugs by the young generation is alarming, and they should expect drastic actions. If this was not done, our youth would be nuisance to the state.
“The authorities saddled with such powers to checkmate drug related crimes should step up more efforts to stop this menace in Delta society before it is too late.”
Comrade Ezekiel Daniel assured residents of Delta State that the highlighted societal issues such as herdsmen attacks, drug abuse, cultism and sea pirate amongst the youth, would be brought to the barest minimum if not out-rightly eradicated.”
He added, “I equally want to assure all Deltans that I will join hands with all the security agencies and other government organs to making sure that all multinational companies/organisations that have fled Delta State relocate back to a more secure and peaceful Delta State, so that our teeming youth will be gainfully engaged and taken off the streets.”
