Kurutie Community, located in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State, has formally expressed its profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his historic decision to sign the bill establishing Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko Bill into law.
Kurutie community serves as the take-off campus for the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU), representing a key milestone for the region.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of Kurutie Community, Comrade Peter Wilson Uduboh, the community extended their heartfelt thanks to the president for his commitment to the development of maritime education in the region.
Comrade Uduboh stated: “On behalf of the good people of Kurutie, we thank President Bola Tinubu for his vision and leadership. The signing of this bill into law marks a significant milestone, cementing the future of maritime education in the Niger Delta and beyond.”
The statement also highlighted the critical role played by key stakeholders, including His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom; High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo); Mr. Matthew Tonlagha; and other distinguished leaders whose tireless efforts were instrumental in making the university.
“This is a moment of pride for all of us in Gbaramatu Kingdom. Kurutie has long been a place of learning and development, and now, with the full backing of the Nigerian government, our community and youth have access to a world-class institution.”
The community also recognized and celebrated the advocacy of High Chief Kestin Pondi, the Ibe-Benemowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; High Chief Anthony Ayebibode, the Torupuwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, and High Chief Ekomieyefa Uduboh, the Miyenkirigbolomowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, for their roles.
