—As two organisations donate 24 Bunk Beds, Mattresses
—We appreciate the community effort –CIE
As part of their collective efforts towards developing their community, to guarantee the education of their children and complement government efforts, the people of Kokodiagbene in Gbaramatu kingdom recently built and handed over a block of three classrooms with teachers’ quarters to the Delta State Ministry of Education.
Also, in what could be described as a harvest of donations, two organizations while performing their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) in Kokodiagbene, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State recently donated 24 bunk beds and mattresses to Kokodiagbene Model Secondary School.
The two organizations according to the information made available to GbaramatuVoice are Triune Ministries International Incorporated, a faith-based group; and Ayemide & Sons Nigeria Limited.
The items were received by the Chief Inspector of Education (CIE), Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Ariwojo Eze, on behalf of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
While welcoming the CIE to the community, Chairman of Kokodiagbene Community, Mr. Sheriff Mulade expressed appreciation to the Delta State Governor for approving the establishment of the school in the rural community which he said has educated the children and lessened the burden of parents who were sending their wards to the urban cities to acquire secondary education.
Similarly, the CIE, while receiving the donated materials appreciated the indigenes of the community for their efforts and commitments toward achieving quality education.
Speaking further, Mr. Eze commended Gbaramatu Kingdom for supplementing government efforts in the area of education by providing accommodation, building classroom blocks and other infrastructures, adding that If we wait for the government alone, it may really take much time.
While handing over the donated items on behalf of his group, the Missions Director, Rev. (Dr.) I. C. Tolar told the CIE, that Triune Ministries International Incorporated, a responsible faith-based organization made the contribution as part of their donation to raise the boarding facilities of the school.
Speaking in the same manner, the company’s representative of Ayemide & Sons Nigeria Limited, Capt. Mark Timiyan in presenting the materials stressed that this is their own way of supporting government efforts and by so doing, contribute their quota to the development of education in the rural area.
Also speaking at the opening of the new Ebiabu Primary School, Comrade Mulade appealed to the CIE to help fast-track the approval of the school by the Ministry of Education to enable the school gain recognition from the government.
The community leader further pleaded with the CIE for more classroom structures to be provided to help accommodate the pupils whose numbers are beyond the new classroom block.
Responding to the above requests, Mr. Eze stated that “one of our roles is to help interface with interventionist agencies like the NDDC and DESOPADEC on behalf of the communities.
“Another of such roles is to ensure that what we see here are forwarded to the appropriate quarters in Asaba by making sure that they get the true picture of how education is going on in the area,” he added.
Continuing, he admonished the related community members by saying “I want to appeal to you that these schools belong to you and these are our children, so there’s need to interface. Irrespective of the terrain we find ourselves, every child deserves quality education, and this you can do by giving us feedbacks since we cannot always be here to ensure that the teachers come to school and do their jobs.”
Some of the key government officials that made up the CIE entourage includes; Mr. Lynnient Ekiseowei, Deputy Chief Inspector of Education; Mr. Godspower Uyabribinde, Education Secretary; Comrade Sunday Osanebi, Chairman, Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON); among others.
