Kingship Tussle: Egbema Traditional Council says meeting to hold as planned, calls on all to disregard counter directive from suspended chiefs
…warns Joseph Owilly group to desist from sacrilegious, fraudulent activities or face the wrath of the supreme Egbesu deity
Egbema Traditional Council has for the information of the general public affirmed that its meeting slated on the today at Ajakurama, the traditional headquarter of Egbema kingdom will hold and therefore enjoin Egbema indigenes to attend the meeting in mass.
The Council on the other hands, condemned and urged all communities, indigenes and the general public to discountenance in its entirety letter of notification to disregard the slated meeting at Ajakurama, written by the suspended Chiefs; David Bubor, Joseph Pipi Owilly, Simeon Igbedikuru, Williams Bilemo Igbiriki, Lucky Tiemo Fidisegha Ebiegberi and others who are holding out as Chairman and Secretary of Council.
These pieces of information were contained in a recent statement jointly signed by High Chief Johnbull Adaun, Chairman, Regency Council, Chief Tax Agbaibor, Chairman Egbema Traditional Council, and Secretary Egbema Traditional Council, Chief Cyrus Olopele, on behalf of the community.
While noting that no well meaning person(s) in Egbema kingdom will consider them as responsible people and their correspondences of no effect, the release explained that the latest invitation for a meeting is a further disregard to constituted authority and an affront on the entire people of Egbema kingdom except for the erring chiefs and their co-travellers.
The statement reads in part: The attention of the Egbema Traditional Council has been drawn to the above letter of notification signed by one Chief Joseph Pipi Owilly who has been suspended from Council activities The Egbema Traditional Council led by Chiefs Tax Agbaibor and Chief Cyrus Olopele as Chairman and Secretary respectively remains valid and authentic, It’s backed by the Egbema Regency Council, the Egbema Leaders of Thought and the generality of Egbema Isenabiri (principal communities) as the only recognised Egbema Traditional Council in force; it represents the ancient Egbema kingdom.
The Council therefore warns all the aforementioned Chiefs to desist in parading themselves and bury their heads in shame as members of Egbema Traditional Council when they denigrate the time tested custom and tradition for a pottage of food, just as they say ”an Idle man is the workshop of the devil” as the good people of Egbema kingdom will not be surprised to see the gimmicks and antics of Owilly and their co-travellers.
It further warned Pipi Owilly and his team not to invoke the wrath of the supreme Egbesu deity for their sacrilegious and fraudulent activities in plunging the entire kingdom in disrepute and advised to retrace their step for the general good and happiness of Egbema kingdom.
Continuing, the Community leaders cautioned Barrister Napoleon Egin not to further parade himself forthwith and advised Napoleon Egin to quickly return to his endearing legal practice for the benefits of himself and his family instead of lending himself to be used by people who have no future that will abandon his already failed ambition in becoming Agadagba through the back door.
