•Says the community had being a major benefactor
The Chairman of Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF, Chief Michael Johnny have berated Benikurukuru Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State over the seven days ultimatum given to Chevron.
The Chairman made the call yesterday in a statement jointly signed by the duo of Chief Michael Johnny Chairman of the board and Ambassador Jude Ukori secretary general who appealed to oil bearing communities in the Kingdom to discountenance any act of disrupting Chevron’s operations.
The statement particularly noted that Benikurukuru Community was a major beneficiary of the Global Memorandum of understanding between Chevron and the Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF.
“The foundation is about to award three more projects to be executed in Benikrukru community.
The community should not disrupt Chevron’s operation but should channel whatever grievance and demands they have through the foundation to the appropriate authority for deliberation,” they said.
Meanwhile, Benikuruku Community have through its Chairman Mr. Victor Eseimieghan recently issued a seven days ultimatum to Chevron to address lingering deprivation issues or they will shut down the Abiteye field.
