Joemarine Institute CEO Visits Philippines to Strengthen Maritime Training Partnerships

The Managing Director and CEO of Joemarine, one of Nigeria’s foremost private maritime training institutes, Mr. Akpos Epidei, recently embarked on a visit to the Philippines with the primary aim of engaging with delegates of the ongoing NCDMB/Total COC training program. This visit aligns with Joemarine Institute’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s maritime manpower through sustainable training programs and strategic partnerships with foreign maritime institutions.

During his visit, Akpos Epidei toured several maritime training centers and facilities across the Philippines. Notable among these were the Southern Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS), ZRC, and Compass Training Center. The purpose of these visits was to inspect the facilities and explore potential collaborations that could further strengthen the training programs offered by Joemarine Institute.

Following the inspections, Akpos Epidei K. expressed satisfaction with the quality and standards of the facilities visited. “As an institution, it is imperative that we partner with our foreign competitors to advance our operations and academic activities,” he stated. This partnership, he believes, will not only elevate the standards of maritime education at Joemarine Institute but also ensure that Nigeria remains competitive on the global stage.

The visit marks a significant step towards establishing long-term partnerships with leading maritime training centers in the Philippines, which are renowned for their excellence in maritime education and training. Joemarine Institute, located at Plot 10, 39th Street, DDPA Housing Estate, Ugborikoko Effurun-Warri, Delta State, is accredited by the Federal Ministry of Higher Education, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and various international bodies such as the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA). The institute is recognized for offering both regular and short courses in maritime training, oil and gas training, and human capacity development, all in line with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards and the STCW code.
