As the politicking of who becomes the President of the revered Ijaw Youth Council, IYC Worldwide thickens, the Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper have allegedly made arrangements to organize a debate for those aspiring for the office of the President.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Mr. Jacob Abai yesterday.
According to him, the organization of the debate becomes necessary as it would provide a platform for the display of knowledge on the activities of the Ijaw Youth Council and most importantly the plans they have in moving the Ijaw Nation forward.
In his words “Prominent Ijaw sons and daughters will be invited to the debate that will form a panel, we promise that it will be nice and no one will ever regret taking part in the debate, we have put all modalities on ground”.
Jacob Abai further noted that in organizing the debate, GVN will work closely with the Electoral Committee of the Council when it must have been inaugurated by the leadership of NEC.
He however, stressed that more information on the debate will be made known to Ijaw Sons and daughters after the forthcoming National Convention of the Council, adding that the date for now remains 6th of February 2017 at Wellington Hotel, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
Speaking on the vitality of the debate, prominent Niger Deltans have hailed Gbaramatu Voice for the initiative to organise a debate for the aspirants, noting that it is surely a nice step in the right direction.
