Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has mourned the death of ex-President Shehu Shagari and business tycoon, High Chief Lulu Briggs.
In a statement signed by its President, Barrister Pereotubo Oweilaemi, the youth body said:
“It is unfortunate for the nation to bear the news of the departure of these great and lengendary leaders, especially at this time when the younger generation and crop of leaders are in desperate search for wise counsel and mentorship in the bid to build the future of our dreams.
“Indeed Nigerians shall continue to learn from the lessons of the lives of these icons, especially the indelible foot-prints they left behind which will surely stand the test of time in uniting this nation.
“We use same medium to reach out to their individual families as we pray God to grant you the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, to our nation Nigeria we shall continue to hope, pray and work towards achieving true Nationhood foist on the ideals of Unity, Justice, Fairness, Equity and Peace, ideals that these great men continually fought to establish.”
