IYC lambasts Okowa: Ijaw have gained nothing from you

WARRI – The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has stated that the Delta State Government has not impacted positively on the people since his assumption of office in 2015.

National president of the youth body, Barrister Pereotubo Oweilaemi, said that despite the fact that Governor Okowa got some of the highest number of votes in Ijaw areas the people “have gained little or nothing from the Okowa administration in more than 1096 days in office.

He challenged Governor Okowa “to tell the people what they have benefitted from his government.”

Going further, he stressed: “At this point in time, the challenge is not for Governor Okowa alone.

“The challenge is now thrown to all our elected, appointed and sundry political leaders such as Community Development Committee Chairmen, etc to challenge the governor to point to a project started, completed and commissioned by his administration in the last three years plus.

“Political leaders shouldn’t be selfish in telling the governor the home truth because they are on his pay roll as Special Assistants and all what not.

“Our leaders should be able to ask Okowa why the School of Maritime Technology, Burutu should be fragmented into bits of campuses when the College of Education, Agbor, established over 40 years ago is still one campus.”
