The Barrister Eric Omare-led Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, has condemned the brutal killing of a military officer at Ogbugbagbebe in Burutu Local government Area of Delta State by unknown gunmen, describing the act as barbaric and highly unacceptable.
In a statement signed by the IYC boss, which was made available to GbaramatuVoice, Omare said the killing was not in tune with the Ijaw and Niger Delta struggle, stressing that it was a clear case of criminality and a set back to efforts towards peace and stability in the region.
Barrister Omare therefore called on relevant security agencies to bring to justice the perpetrators of what he described as heinous crime in order to serve as deterrent to others.
He further called on the military to display utmost professionalism in their quest to get the perpetrators of the crime, stressing that the innocent people of Ogbugbagbebe, Tuomo, Bomadi and other neighbouring communities must not be subjected to unnecessary pains in attempt to get the criminals.
Omare declared the IYC interest to work with security agencies towards ensuring a peaceful and secured Niger Delta.
The statement read thus: “The Ijaw Youth Council condemns the brutal murder of a military officer at Ogbugbagbebe, Burutu Local government Area of Delta State by unknown gunmen.
