High Chief Asonja Idowu, frontline youth ambassador and prominent stakeholder of Ilaje extraction in Ondo state, has called on the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL and Bala Wunti, GGM, National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), to impress it on the Federal Government to review upward the surveillance contract amount paid High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, the Ebidouwei of the Niger Delta, for optimum performance.
He stated this in a statement recently personally signed by him and sent to GbaramatuVoice.

According to him, “The contract will help block all loopholes draining the country of the revenue generated from the oil sector and that is why it is important for the Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited in person of Mr. Mele Kyari (GCEO) Bala Wunti, GGM, NAPIMS, to impress it on the Federal Government to increase the monies meant for the surveillance for optimum performance.
Asonja, who is also the Idigbengben, Aheri Kingdom in Ilaje Local Government Area, stressed that the noble leadership astuteness displayed by the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government on the choice of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, the Ebidouwei of the Niger Delta is commendable as results have shown in the last few days that the People’s General is indeed the round peg in the round whole.
He said, “the news of the discovery of sixteen illegal pipelines and the recent interception of massive vessel loaded with illegally extracted crudeoil by Tantita Security Service Limited ably led by the team of the result-driven, proactive and industrious Managing Director- Engineer Kestin Pondi is noteworthy. In fact, the choice of the globally renowned Engineer- Mr. Kestin is top-notch. We trust in his capacity to continue with the job specification given to his principal- Chief Tompolo so that the trust reposed in him with the contract can be justified and Nigeria free from the gully of national financial loss occasioned by the activities of bunkers and enemies of the state.”
“For the first time in the history of Nigeria, we have a general that put the interests of the Niger Deltans above his personal interest. No state he said, in the Niger Delta region will accuse High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, of nepotism, self aggrandizement or any pecunious interest as regarding this multi-million naira pipeline contracts and other emancipatory struggle in the past, noting that such humongous discovery is legendary and definitely will help the Federal Government to nip this hydra-headed oil menace in the bud
“No doubt, Chief Tompolo has among many other giant strides reduce unemployment rate in the NIger Delta by engaging unemployed youths without gender discrimination (40% for women),” He concluded.
He therefore called the Federal Government through the Special Duties Ministry under the leadership of Senator George Akume to consider this great man of nobility and honour for a place in the forthcoming award of National Honours given to Nigerians of distinguished exploits.
