The Pere of all Ijaws living in Udu Kingdom, Capt. Wilson Arantan, says that the Ijaws and Urhobos are one big family and they should strive to live peacefully among themselves.

Dr. Arantan stated this on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Uvwie Townhall, Effurun, when he led other Ijaws living in Udu Kingdom, Udu Local Government Area of Delta state, on a familiarisation visit to the president generals of Urhobo nation in the state.

According to him, the Urhobo nation is the closest neighbours of the Ijaws and also the people of Udu have shown uncommon love to the Ijaws in the past.

Speaking on the Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja crisis, Dr. Arantan stated that the Ijaws and Urhobos are not at war instead it is the Aladja and their Ogbe-Ijoh brothers that are having issues. .

He also assured that his leadership will do what it takes in making sure that peace is returned and the crisis come to an end.

Dr. Wilson also stated that he is prepared to work with the Urhobo nation president generals if need be and he also enjoined the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to quickly resolved the crisis between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja crisis.

Reacting, Spokesman of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Amb. Binebai Princewill, also stated that the Ijaws and Urhobos have no issue that will make them go to war with each other.

Princewill argued that the Federal Government and multinational oil companies that are milking oil from the Niger Delta region without proper development of the region should are the enemies of the Niger Deltans.

According to him, the same issues of deprivation and underdevelopment facing the Ijaw man are the same issues the Urhobo man and others in the Niger Delta region have to deal with so he is perplexed concerning the cause of the fight.

The Chairman of the forum who also doubles as the President general of Abraka Kingdom, Chief Monday Arawore Umiahwa, assured the Ijaws of their continued support.

Chief Monday also assured that everything will be done to resolve the Ogbe-Ijoh and the Aladja crisis.

Those who are part of the Urhobo delegation include: Chief Monday Arawore, Umiahwa Abraka Kingdom chairman; Rev.Canon David Ofofia Okere Urhobo, Kingdom vice chairman; Comr Bright Adjogbe, Erwreni Kingdom secretary; Chief Abovi H.Erufe, Uvwie Kingdom Spokesman; Chief Daniel Ojo Agbarha, Otor Kingdom Treasurer, Chief Julius Akpodiefe. Okparabe, Kingdom financial secretary; Chief Emmanuel Emenu, Agbarha Warri kingdom; Chief Vincent Atumah, Oghara Kingdom and Prof. Arthur Ekpekpo, Ewu Kingdom.

Others are: Chief Benard Ughwumakpo, Oruarivie-Abraka Kingdom; Chief Wilson Umukoro. Arharwaria Kingdom; Chief Joseph Aboze, Okpe Kingdom; Moses Uparan, Udu Kingdom and Chief Lucky Edomidoghan, Idjere Kingdom.
