Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, IPDI, in Delta State, yesterday, said it was shocked at the continued detention of its spokesperson, Daniel Ezekiel, arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, in August, last year, notwithstanding an alleged directive of acting President Yemi Osinbajo, that every Niger Delta youth arrested in connection with the current agitation be released.

The group, in a statement by the president, Comr. Austin Ozobo, appreciated the recent release of some Niger Delta youths, following Osinbajo’s order, but wondered why its spokesperson was still held back without justifiable reason.

“Ezekiel was arrested in a manner that suggests abduction by the DSS on August 2, 2016 in Warri after his life was threatened on July 20, 2016 by an APC leader, who vowed to level allegations against him and deal with him over domestic disagreements and ever since, he has been detained without trial,” Ozobo said.
