How Manchester United beat Leeds United 2-0 on Sunday

Manchester United got late goals from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho as they beat Leeds United 2-0 at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Playing one another for the second time in less than a week, the two sides brought plenty of energy and passion to this match. Physical tackles and fouls were commonplace all over the pitch.

Neither side found the back of the net in the first half, with Crysencio Summerville enjoying a pair of quality chances before Illan Meslier was forced to make a big save on Bruno Fernandes.

Leeds were all over the visitors as the second half began, creating a succession of chances, but were still unable to break through. Diogo Dalot threatened to put Manchester United ahead with his shot that hit the crossbar in the 63rd minute.

Erik ten Hag’s men finally broke through in the 80th minute, as Marcus Rashford scored his 13th goal in 15 matches in all competitions since the World Cup break ended.

Alejandro Garnacho doubled their lead just five minutes later, sealing all three points for his side.

Manchester United climb to second in the table for the time being, while Leeds remain in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone.
