Dr. Praise Ebimaye Tangbe, a Nigerian professor based in the United States of America, demonstrated unwavering commitment to community healthcare by providing free medical treatment to over 2,000 residents across Delta State’s riverine communities on March 16, 2024. The initiative marked the pre-launching of the Moms and Infants Care Network.
Commencing in Okerenkoko Community in Gbaramatu kingdom, the event drew people from various demographics, including men, women, children, pregnant women, and individuals from neighboring communities.
The Mom and Infants Care Network, a non-profit organization, aims to prioritize maternal healthcare, particularly focusing on supporting women who harbor fears of Cesarean sections due to traditional beliefs, which often lead to fatal complications during childbirth.
Named after her late mother, Mrs. Queen Oguma Tangbe, who passed away on March 22, 2023, Dr. Tangbe’s organization aims to honor her legacy through impactful healthcare initiatives.
During the pre-launching event, beneficiaries received not only cash assistance but also essential items such as blood pressure monitors for the elderly, baby beds, diapers for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, and a variety of medications.
A team of medical experts specializing in various fields, including dental care, medical laboratory tests, eye examinations, vital signs monitoring, internal medicine consultations, pharmacy services, and antenatal care for pregnant women, ensured comprehensive healthcare services were provided.
Communities benefiting from the outreach efforts included Oporoza, Kokodiagbene, Benikurukuru, Ajama, Kurutie, Kunukunuama, Tebujor, Opuedebubor, Egwa 1, Pepeama, and other neighboring communities in Delta State.
The Moms and Infants Care Network is poised to officially launch its program on March 22, 2024, at the Mom Civic Center on Airport Road in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.
