The prayer summit, with the theme ‘INTERVENTION FOR SUSTAINABLE PEACE IN THE NIGER DELTA’ provided four terms of reference for prayer actions to wit.- Establishment of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ over the kingdoms of the Niger Delta; Restoration of Health for the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari; Executive, Legislative and Judicial intervention for High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo’s orchestrated travails;and the commencement of academic activities at the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko.
In his speech, one of the Conference Speakers, Prof Tosan Blessing Harriman opined that it would amounts to foolhardiness for the Government not to put in place remediation support scheme to cater for all issues in the Niger Delta region, given the fact that, oil, which is a critical revolving foreign exchange earner by the Country, is from the Niger Delta.
According to Him, the critical Take-off point is to let economic expediency be the overriding factor, stressing that going this route may produce the salutary concomitant effect of mitigating vexatious political demands by the militants.
Prof. Tosan canvassed for position that decision makers acquit themselves with a measure of Humility and integrity in confronting any prospect of official arrogance.
